On August 10, 2024, Bridging Resources (BR) took part in an inspiring Back to School event at Buckner, demonstrating our commitment to supporting families and children in our community. In collaboration with HISD and Buckner, we helped equip local students with essential school supplies, ensuring they start the academic year on the right foot.
A Day of Giving and Community Spirit
The event was a resounding success, with over 300 backpacks distributed to eager students. These backpacks, filled with school essentials, will help set the stage for a productive and confident start to the school year for many children in our area.
BR was joined by numerous community sponsors, each contributing their unique resources and information to support local families. We’re particularly grateful to Agape Charities, who generously sponsored all the water and snacks that BR distributed throughout the day, keeping attendees refreshed and energized.
More Than Just Supplies
While the distribution of backpacks was a central part of the event, the day represented much more. It was an opportunity for BR to fulfill its mission: being a liaison for families living with neuromuscular illnesses and providing community resources through Consultation, Connection, and Confidence.
By participating in events like this, we’re able to:
- Consult with families about their needs and the resources available to them
- Connect community members with valuable services and information
- Build Confidence through education and support
